The Office of Event Management & Protocol supports the university mission of teaching, research, and service through the effective development and management of events that communicate and enhance UCR's reputation for excellence, especially events specific to the advancement of the university.
The goals of the office are to:
- Serve in the planning, development and execution of high-profile major events that benefit the university and enhance its image, reputation and attractiveness as worthy focus of charitable giving and other forms of support.
- Partner with various academic and administrative units on campus in order to achieve their individual event goals and objectives.
- Advise members of the UCR community on protocol issues as they relate to event planning.
Our Annual Events
New Student Convocation
A ceremonial induction for new students into the UCR family designed to promote the shared values of the university – integrity, accountability, excellence and respect.
The annual Chancellor's Dinner to benefit UCR students raises funds for scholarships and fellowships and recognizes UCR Medallion and Alumni Awards recipients.
Homecoming weekend at UCR is the highlight of UCR's fall quarter. Events include: Alumni reunions, Scot Fest and the Basketball Game. All are welcome - Go Highlanders!
Hays Press-Enterprise Lecture
The Hays Press-Enterprise Lecture has been presented by The Press-Enterprise and UCR since 1966. The goal of this free public lecture is to bring an exceptional journalist to UCR to address important news media topics.
Donors & Scholars Luncheon
This annual event brings together the generous scholarship donors and talented scholarship recipients to celebrate achievement and philanthropy.
